Review of Payroll Tax Reporting Procedures Many employers needlessly increase the financial burden of payroll taxes by not taking advantage of all legally allowable means of tax avoidance. Complexities in the tax laws themselves often result in employers not taking advantage of wage exemptions and overstating taxable wage base limits. We will audit the preceding three years of payroll taxes in order to verify their accuracy. When appropriate, recommendations will be made to reduce your tax liabilities. We will complete the necessary forms for refund should overpayments be found. At this point we will have aligned your records, our records and the State and Federal records. It is only at this point that we can insure the accuracy of assigned experience rates from the State. A report of our findings will be provided which will include any recommendations for future payroll tax savings. Personnel Practices Review Since unemployment claims are generally the result of turnover, a review of your Employment Process is made to determine those areas that may be contributing to employee turnover and claims activity. Included in this review are practices and procedures relating to hiring, maintaining personnel records and termination procedures. Also included in this review are all personnel related forms and documents. Suggestions will be made to reduce turnover, implement documentation procedures and update all existing personnel forms including providing sample forms to fill any voids with the goal of reducing unwarranted benefit costs through preventative measures. Upon completion of our Personnel Practices Review a report of all problem areas will be made and solutions offered to resolve these problems. This will result in a reduction of personnel related costs both direct and indirect.
